Survivors include her children: Ann (Victor "Gus") Helling of Dubuque, IA, Rosemary Stronck of Sioux City, IA, 4 granddaughters: Amy (Robert) Belken, Sarah (Jason) Francois, Kristin (Matt) Walker and Kimberly (Matt) Lane, 7 great grandchildren: Lauren, Benjamin, Katherine and Luke Belken, Collin, Victoria, and Johnny Francois; one brother, Nick (Joan) Dunkel of Manchester, IA, one sister: Dorothy (Francis) Vorwald of Dyersville,a brother-in-law, Bernard Kass of Peosta, and 3 sisters-in-law: Louise Vaske of Farley, Diane Dunkel of Earlville and Marie Dunkel of Dyersville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald in 1995, three sisters, Helen Bonert, Eileen Sperfslage and Bernice Dunkel; five brothers: Herbert, Jim, Bernard, Lavern and Fr. Henry Dunkel, 3 brothers-in-law: Paul Donald, Clarence and John Stronck and 2 sisters-in-law, Viola Schaul and Virginette Kass. Ruth was born on June 29, 1925, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Nick and Emma (Brunkan) Dunkel. She married Gerald Stronck on February 2, 1943, in Dyersville, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Greeley area until their retirement in 1979. Ruth was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Rose and the Dyersville Area Historical Society. She was fond of working at the Dyer House and was proud of her mission to light the Corpus Christi Chapel. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 5 p.m. and a CD of A Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.
